CHARACTERISTICS
Sapwood ranges in colour from delicate pinkish white to light yellow to light khaki. The surface is smooth, snug, and dense. The colour of heartwood ranges from dark brown to green to black. Because of its broadly defined uniform light colour, white maple is commonly sold. Growth rings are thin and sometimes invisible. Susceptible to insect attack, resulting in brown streaks known as worm track and, mistakenly, sugar streaks.

Rift cut, rotary cut, plain sliced, half round, quarter sliced, and rift cut are all typically derived from sliced quarters.
USES
Decorative veneer and timber for kitchen cabinets and furniture. Excellent painting surface.
