The cross grain construction of birch plywood sheets is just as suited for a wide variety of uses as the long grain construction. Because of the usual bb grade, there might be the occasional well-made patch, but by selecting a high-quality birch plywood cut sheet, it might be clear-finishable.
Face and rear veneer in a single piece. Face veneers are regarded as being light-colored, transparent, and defect-free. The oval, egg-sized patches can be 3-6 different colors, and they can be placed on the back. Inner cores are made of solid, single-piece veneers of birch.
Face and back in one piece. Face and back veneers each permit an average of 3-6 little color-matched patches as well as a few light mineral streaks. There can be small pin knots. Solid one-piece veneers make up the inner cores.
Combinations of letters can be used to determine the plywood’s quality. For the front (top side) and the back (bottom side), there is a letter designation. This is referring to the veneer quality; the glue quality, for instance, is represented in a different way. A typical quality that can be utilized in decorative applications is B/BB. The quality of the front side is denoted by the first letter, in this case B, and the quality of the back side is denoted by the second letter, in this case BB.
There is a BB birch veneer visible side to this board material as well. B-grade veneers, which are visible on the top side, could have very slight flaws. Minor repairs and slight discolorations are also acceptable. Small color variations are permitted. Sapwood and knots could be present. The bottom is rougher.Drosses are acceptable with veneers that are BB-quality. These are minute slivers of the veneer that have been swapped out for a perfect piece. Therefore, propping is a method of fixing flaws. Small veneer cracks are also acceptable, especially close to the edges.
